h\u00f6chste Berg Mexikos und der dritth\u00f6chste Berg Nordamerikas. Er ist auch als Citlalt\u00e9petl oder \"Cerro de la Estrella\" in Nahuatl bekannt.<\/p><p>Diese Expedition erfordert eine optimale k\u00f6rperliche Verfassung und eine ausreichende Akklimatisierung. Der Aufstieg dauert zwischen sechs und acht Stunden, der Abstieg etwa vier Stunden. Wir erreichen diesen Vulkan oft nach einem Konditionstag auf La Malinche oder dem Nevado de Toluca. Erfahrung im Umgang mit Steigeisen und Eispickeln ist hilfreich, aber nicht unbedingt erforderlich.<\/p><p>Von Tlachichuca aus geht es \u00fcber eine unbefestigte Stra\u00dfe zur Schutzh\u00fctte Piedra Grande auf 4,200 m H\u00f6he. Von dort aus unternehmen wir eine gem\u00fctliche Akklimatisierungswanderung auf 4,500 Meter, essen zu Abend und gehen fr\u00fch zu Bett.<\/p><p>Wenn wir insgesamt drei Tage Zeit haben, nutzen wir den zweiten Tag f\u00fcr eine Wanderung bis auf 4,800 m, um uns besser an die H\u00f6he zu gew\u00f6hnen.<\/p><p>Am Gipfeltag stehen wir um Mitternacht auf und wandern nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck um ein Uhr morgens los. In den n\u00e4chsten Stunden steigen wir allm\u00e4hlich auf, bis wir einen Pass namens El Brinco erreichen, wo das Labyrinth beginnt, eine Reihe von Rutschen mit unterschiedlichen Schwierigkeitsgraden.<\/p><p>Eineinhalb Stunden sp\u00e4ter erreichen wir den Fu\u00df des Jamapa-Gletschers. Wir trinken, legen unsere Steigeisen an, seilen uns an und gehen weiter. Eine Stunde sp\u00e4ter beginnt es hell zu werden. Es ist der k\u00e4lteste Moment des Tages, aber das Erscheinen der Sonne zu unserer Rechten erf\u00fcllt uns mit Aufregung und Ermutigung.<\/p><p>Eineinhalb Stunden sp\u00e4ter erreichen wir den Fu\u00df des Jamapa-Gletschers. Wir trinken, legen unsere Steigeisen an, seilen uns an und gehen weiter. Eine Stunde sp\u00e4ter beginnt es hell zu werden. Es ist der k\u00e4lteste Moment des Tages, aber das Erscheinen der Sonne zu unserer Rechten erf\u00fcllt uns mit Aufregung und Ermutigung.<\/p><p>Wir gehen im Zickzack weiter, mit kurzen Pausen zum Trinken und Essen. Etwa dreihundert H\u00f6henmeter \u00fcber uns erhebt sich der Kraterrand, der den Gipfel des Vulkans markiert.<\/p><p>Gegen acht Uhr erreichen wir schlie\u00dflich den spektakul\u00e4ren, fu\u00dfballstadiongro\u00dfen Krater, der sich unter unseren F\u00fc\u00dfen in einem H\u00f6henunterschied von mehreren hundert Metern auftut.<\/p><p>Vom Gipfel aus k\u00f6nnen wir bei klarem Wetter im Norden den Cofre de Perote und im Westen die unverwechselbaren Silhouetten von La Malinche, Popocatepetl und Iztaccihuatl sehen. Es ist ein unvergesslicher Anblick und eine wohlverdiente Belohnung f\u00fcr unsere
